Biography

Rimona Weil is a Professor of Neurology at University College London (UCL) and an Honorary Consultant Neurologist at the National Hospital for Neurology. She leads a Wellcome-funded longitudinal research program focused on investigating dementia, specifically hallucinations in Parkinson’s disease through neuroimaging and plasma markers. She is responsible for managing clinical services for patients with Parkinson’s dementia and Dementia with Lewy Bodies. After completing her education in medicine at UCL and a PhD in Neuroscience at UCL, her post-doctoral work included a UCL Excellence Fellowship where she studied visual changes associated with Parkinson’s disease. She has received a Wellcome Clinical Research Career Development Fellowship to explore predictors of dementia in Parkinson’s disease. Currently, she holds a Wellcome Career Development Award aimed at understanding the mechanisms behind dementia in Parkinson's disease, which inform the development of treatments to slow disease progression.
