Dr. Ripal Shah

Biography

Ripal Shah, M.D., M.P.H., is a Clinical Associate Professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at Stanford University. He specializes in reproductive psychiatry, addressing issues related to pre-conception, pregnancy, postpartum, and related health concerns. His clinical focus includes premenstrual dysphoric disorder (PMDD), integrative health approaches, and physician wellness programs. Dr. Shah is recognized as a global expert in PMDD and has a dedicated research interest in women's reproductive mental health, minority stress, and the role of Eastern religions in mental health. He has received specialized training to serve diverse populations and has been actively involved in leadership roles, including his efforts to enhance diversity and inclusion within the department. Dr. Shah has been awarded the position of Chief Resident and has consistently ranked highly in residency examinations. He has completed extensive training in areas such as transcranial magnetic stimulation and psychedelic-assisted therapies. Additionally, Dr. Shah has contributed to various community service efforts and serves as an advisor to companies on the clinical use of psychedelics in psychiatry.
