Generate a tailored SOP for Dr. Rippei Hayashi. Improve your application with a focused, well-structured draft.
Rippei Hayashi studied chemistry biotechnology at the University of Tokyo and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in 2002. He completed his Master's and PhD at the same institution in 2007, focusing on the regulation of transcription factors' activity through nuclear import mechanisms. After his education, he worked as a Junior Research Fellow at the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science before moving to Cancer Research UK in 2008 to study asymmetric mRNA localization in Drosophila oocytes. His research transitioned to RNA biology and Drosophila genetics. He developed a live-cell imaging-based genetic screen involving gurken mRNA localization, identifying several relatives involved in transposon silencing. In 2013, he joined the Institute of Molecular Biotechnology in Vienna, Austria, where he uncovered the link between splicing regulation and transposon regulation. He started his own research group at the Australian National University in January 2018, where his research interests focus on transposon silencing, post-transcriptional RNA processing, and organogenesis.
