Biography

Risto Miikkulainen is a Professor of Computer Science at the University of Texas at Austin and the Vice President of AI Research at Cognizant AI Lab. He obtained his Master's degree in Engineering from Helsinki University of Technology in 1986 and his Ph.D. in Computer Science from UCLA in 1990. His current research emphasizes neuroevolution techniques and neural network applications in natural language processing and vision. Over the years, he has received numerous accolades including AAAI Fellow, IEEE Fellow, and several awards for outstanding papers. He directs the UTCS Neural Networks Research Group, where ongoing projects and publications highlight advancements in AI and computational creativity.
