Biography

Rita Esuru Okoroafor is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Petroleum Engineering at Texas A&M University. She holds a Ph.D. in Energy Resources Engineering from Stanford University, obtained in 2021. Prior to that, she earned her M.S. in Petroleum Engineering Project Development from the Institute of Petroleum Studies in Nigeria in 2004 and a B.Eng. in Petroleum Engineering from the University of Port Harcourt in 2002. Dr. Okoroafor's research focuses on Geothermal Energy, Carbon Capture Sequestration, and Underground Hydrogen Storage. She is also a member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers and has received several awards for her contributions to the field, including the Africa Region Reservoir Dynamics Description Award in 2017 and the International Young Member Outstanding Service Award in 2016.
