Dr. Roarke Horstmeyer

Biography

Roarke Horstmeyer is an assistant professor in Duke University's Department of Biomedical Engineering. His research focuses on developing advanced optical systems and algorithms for various applications, particularly in biomedical contexts. His work includes pioneering methods for improved imaging of microscopic phenomena, often utilizing techniques in computational optics and machine learning. At Duke, he is involved in the design of novel microscopy systems and algorithms for capturing 3D reconstructions of biological structures and detecting neural activities in deep tissues. His interests also encompass signal processing and optimization within neuroscience, contributing to the field with both foundational research and innovative applications. Horstmeyer has been recognized for his contributions in the academic community and has had roles such as guest professor at the University of Erlangen in Germany.
