Rob Bray joined ANU in 2010 after a long career in the Australian Public Service. He is involved in significant part-time commissioned research evaluations and his own research projects, in addition to providing guest lectures and seminars. His doctoral thesis focused on the interaction between the tax and transfer systems and the role of the Australian minimum wage. His public service career includes roles as a researcher, policy analyst, advisor, and program developer, covering various social policy fields including employment policies, residential care, housing policy, and income support policy, notably contributing to the 2008-09 Pension Review as part of 'Australia’s Future Tax System' review. In recognition of his work, particularly in poverty analysis in Australia, he was awarded the Public Service Medal in 2010.
