Biography

Rob Gorbet is an Associate Professor in the Knowledge Integration Program at the University of Waterloo, cross-appointed in the School of Environment, Resources and Sustainability and Electrical & Computer Engineering. He received his PhD in Electrical Engineering from the University of Waterloo in 1997, following his MASc in 1994 and BASc in 1992, both also in Electrical Engineering from the same institution. His research interests focus on interfaces, including physical interfaces, interface design, interactive artworks, and collaboration in teaching and learning contexts. Gorbet has also made significant contributions as a judge and board member for Robotics Canada since 2002 and has been involved with Shad Waterloo in various capacities since 2008, serving as Program Director from 2016. He was recognized for his collaborative installation work at the Venice Biennale Architecture in 2010 and has received the Faculty of Engineering Teaching Excellence Award in 2003.
