Biography

Rob J Hyndman is a Professor in the Department of Econometrics and Business Statistics at Monash University. He holds a Bachelor of Science (Honours) and a PhD from the University of Melbourne. Rob is an accredited statistician with the Statistical Society of Australia and has been elected as a Fellow of the Australian Academy of Science and the Academy of the Social Sciences in Australia. His research spans a wide range of applications including forecasting COVID-19 cases, demand forecasting in the electricity sector, and estimating life expectancy for the Australian Indigenous population. He has served as Theory & Methods Editor for the Australian and New Zealand Journal of Statistics and as Editor-in-Chief of the International Journal of Forecasting. Rob has received several notable awards, including the Moran Medal and the Pitman Medal, and was recognized for his outstanding contributions to student learning in 2022.
