Biography

Rob Maunder studied at the School of Electronics and Computer Science, University of Southampton, UK, where he was awarded a BEng in Electronic Engineering with class honours in July 2003 and completed his PhD in Telecommunications in December 2007. He began his academic career with a lectureship in November 2007 and was promoted to Associate Professor in March 2013, ultimately achieving the rank of Professor in August 2017. In December 2012, he was awarded Senior Member status by the IEEE, followed by Chartered Engineer status from the IET in November 2013 and Fellow status in January 2017. His research interests lie in joint source/channel coding, holistic design, algorithms, hardware implementations, and wireless communications. Rob has published numerous papers in IEEE in these areas and is a co-founder and Chief Technology Officer of AccelerComm Ltd, where he focuses on commercializing research into soft-IP.
