Biography

Rob Parke is an Associate Professor of Technology and Applied Computing Practice in the Technology and Applied Computing Program at the University of Southern California. He previously held a joint appointment in the Iovine/Young Academy for Arts, Technology, and Business Innovation. Rob created an Android development course for the Mobile App Development minor and serves as the lead faculty for the introductory Python programming course. He established the Connected Devices Making minor which teaches non-engineering students to create internet-enabled hardware devices. He has also taught courses in Web Design, Introduction to Information Technology, Java Programming, C++ Programming, and Photoshop. Rob is actively involved in senate governance roles at USC, addressing issues related to inclusion and equity, and has served as co-chair of the Academic Senate Campus Climate Committee and the Community Advisory Board. He supports the CMD-IT/ACM Richard Tapia Celebration of Diversity in Computing Conference, serving as General Chair in 2021. With a lifelong love for technology, Rob possesses professional experience in software development, information technology, web design, audio engineering, film and television post-production, and digital media.
