Biography

Rob joined the Defence Studies Department at King's College London in 2025. He previously served as a Lecturer in Peace and Security at Durham University and was a Post-Doctoral Research Fellow at Hebrew University of Jerusalem and the University of Haifa. He earned his PhD in War Studies from King’s College London in 2018. In addition to his role at King’s, Rob is a Research Fellow at the Peace Research Center Prague and the Herzl Center for Israel Studies, based at Charles University Prague. He has also held the position of Adjunct Professor at Johns Hopkins University’s School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS). His research has been published in numerous academic journals, including the Journal of Global Security Studies, International Studies Perspectives, and Studies in Conflict and Terrorism. He authored the book "Understanding Territorial Withdrawal: Israeli Occupations Exits", published by Oxford University Press in 2023, which received the European Association for Israel Studies Academic Achievement Award in 2024. Alongside academic outputs, Rob has written policy briefings for the Royal United Services Institute (RUSI) and has provided expert commentary for media outlets such as France 24, RTE News, and Al Jazeera, especially regarding the Syrian Civil War.
