Biography

Rob Shepherd is a Professor of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at Cornell University, where he leads the Organic Robotics Lab. His research focuses on the design, fabrication, and optimization of soft robotic systems, leveraging materials such as bio-inspired composite materials for use in various applications, including wearable robots for rehabilitation and patient care. The lab seeks to redefine perceptions of robots by utilizing soft composites that enable greater human-robot interactions, enhancing independence and dignity in medical contexts.
