Biography

Rob Watson, Jr. is a lecturer at the Harvard Graduate School of Education and the inaugural Executive Director of EdRedesign, where he leads an interdisciplinary team in support of communities in the U.S. to develop cradle-to-career systems of opportunity. His work emphasizes themes of civic engagement, community development, and educational equity in the U.S., Latin America, and Africa. Before joining EdRedesign, Rob acted as a consultant for major organizations such as the World Bank and the Inter-American Development Bank, focusing on educational improvement. He co-founded five civil society organizations in Paraguay and has played significant roles in various educational initiatives in his hometown, Poughkeepsie, New York. Rob is a 2024 Presidential Leadership Scholar and has received numerous awards for his contributions to education and community service, including the Peace Corps’ Franklin H. Williams Award in 2023.
