Robbe Goris is an Associate Professor in the Department of Psychology at the University of Texas at Austin. He received his Ph.D. in 2009 from KU Leuven, where he was advised by Johan Wagemans and Felix Wichmann. Following his doctorate, he completed a postdoctoral fellowship at New York University, studying under Tony Movshon and Eero Simoncelli. Dr. Goris's research interests focus on the neural coding of visual information and decision-making confidence. He uses a variety of research tools, including behavioral experiments, computational modeling, and monkey physiology, to explore the computations performed by single neurons and neuronal populations in the visual association areas of the cerebral cortex. His work aims to understand how visual information is encoded, how this information can be corrupted by noise, and how it is decoded to guide behavior. Dr. Goris joined the UT Austin faculty in the fall of 2016 and has since contributed significantly to the field of theoretical computational neuroscience.
