Biography

Robbert Huijsman, trained as a macro-economist and holding a doctorate in social sciences, has dedicated nearly three decades to the field of elderly care. As a full professor at Erasmus University Rotterdam, he focuses on Health Services Management & Organisation and is passionate about multidisciplinary collaborations aimed at integrated elderly care and person-centered dementia care. Huijsman has played a pivotal role in various projects, including serving as the lead chair for the Dementia Care Standard 2020. His extensive experience spans research, teaching, advising, and leadership across multiple sectors. He advocates for professional organizations that minimize bureaucratic layers, positioning himself as a visionary leader who fosters collaborative development of strategies into actionable plans, enhancing the quality of life for vulnerable populations.
