Biography

Robert-Paul Juster is a researcher in neuroscience with a focus on chronic stress, considering the effects of gender, sex, sexual orientation, and gender identity. His research interests include the study of allostatic load, which measures the long-term consequences of chronic stress in individuals. He examines gender and sex-related variables to identify differences and possible explanations for these phenomena. Dr. Juster is also interested in both the biological and social determinants of chronic stress. Besides his research role, he is the director and founder of the Center for Gender Studies, Allostasis, and Resilience (CESAR). Since July 2018, he has held the position of Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Addiction at the Université de Montréal and is a regular researcher at the research center of the Institut universitaire en santé mentale de Montréal. He is also the director of the laboratory at CESAR. Previously, he completed numerous postdoctoral fellowships at Columbia University in various related fields. His extensive experience in stress research is complemented by numerous awards recognizing his contributions to the field, including several postdoctoral scholarships and research grants.
