Biography

Robert Aman is a Senior Associate Professor at Linköping University, specializing in the field of comic art through a critical cultural theory lens. His academic journey includes gaining a PhD from Linköping University in 2014, and teaching previously at the University of Glasgow from 2015 to 2017. He has served as a visiting researcher at esteemed institutions such as Duke University, University of Oxford, Sciences Po Paris, and Ghent University. His research focuses on analyzing the connections between colonialism and representations in American, Belgian, and Swedish comics, particularly the influence of the 1970s left-wing movements on Swedish societal perspectives as reflected in comics. Additionally, he investigates how comics can facilitate critical discussions around norms in educational settings and is currently working on a project funded by the Swedish Research Council. Aman has also published extensively on topics related to interculturality, intercultural education, and indigenous movements in Latin America, among others.
