Robert Beattie is an assistant professor in the Max Rady College of Medicine at the University of Manitoba and a research scientist at the Children's Hospital Research Institute of Manitoba (CHRIM). His research focuses on understanding the cellular and molecular mechanisms that regulate neural stem cell lineage progression and their role in determining cell types in the developing central nervous system. Beattie employs a genetic lineage tracing technology known as Mosaic Analysis Double Markers (MADM) to study neural development at the single-cell level, addressing critical questions related to childhood developmental disorders and neuropsychiatric conditions such as Autism Spectrum Disorder and Schizophrenia. He earned his Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Microbiology from the University of Manitoba in 2009 and completed his PhD in Biomedical Sciences at the University of Sheffield in the UK in 2014, followed by postdoctoral training at the University of Basel and the Institute of Science and Technology in Austria. Beattie is currently accepting Master's and PhD students to his research group.
