Biography

Professor Robert Bingham holds a Personal Chair in Glaciology at the University of Edinburgh, where he leads the Global Change Research Institute. His research focuses on Glacial Geomorphology, particularly the analysis of modern and past ice masses, subglacial roughness, and Glacial Geophysics, utilizing ice radar and radio-echo sounding techniques. He is particularly interested in the dynamics of subglacial environments and their implications for global change. His work primarily targets the Antarctic region, although he also explores Arctic mountain glaciers. Bingham's research is aimed at enhancing the understanding of cryospheric processes and their broader environmental impacts, contributing to knowledge on land surface dynamics and climate change.
