Biography

Robert L. Byer is the William R. Kenan, Jr. Professor, Emeritus in the Department of Applied Physics at Stanford University. His research expertise includes laser science and technology, nonlinear optics, and precision laser measurements. He has made significant contributions to the development of tunable visible parametric oscillators and Q-switched unstable resonators for Nd:YAG lasers.
