Dr. Robert Campbell

Biography

Dr. Robert Campbell is a renowned Professor at Queen's University in Kingston, Ontario, where he holds the David Barsky Chair in Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences. His academic background includes a Doctorate of Medicine from the University of Ottawa, graduating Summa Cum Laude, and additional advanced training in Glaucoma at the University of Toronto. Dr. Campbell leads an internationally recognized health services research program focused on the assessment of eye care quality, access, and safety, receiving significant national and international recognition for his impactful publications in leading medical journals such as BMJ and CMAJ. He is actively involved in health policy, acting as Co-chair of various health care committees including the Ontario Provincial Vision Care Task Force. His research agenda includes several projects funded by the Canadian Institutes of Health Research, where he serves as a Principal Investigator, focusing on the comparative safety of treatments and the implications of ocular adverse events. Over the years, Dr. Campbell has held pivotal roles within Queen’s University, including Director of the Ophthalmology Residency Program, and continues to contribute to the clinical training of future ophthalmologists while enhancing the department's academic mission.
