Robert Cowles, MD, is a Professor of Surgery at Yale School of Medicine. He completed his undergraduate education at the University of Pennsylvania and earned his medical degree from Temple University. Additionally, he serves as the Program Director for Pediatric Surgery Fellowships at Yale University, emphasizing competency in surgical education. Leading a research laboratory, Dr. Cowles investigates neural control of intestinal adaptation and processes involved in recovery from intestinal injury, contributing to refining surgical techniques for treating young patients with conditions such as biliary atresia and short bowel syndrome.
