Biography

Robert Dorschner is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Dermatology at the University of California, San Diego. He completed his Bachelor of Arts in Biology from Johns Hopkins University in May 1998 and received his Doctor of Medicine from the University of California, San Diego School of Medicine in June 2008. Dr. Dorschner completed his residency in dermatology at UCSD in June 2016 after completing a transitional internship at the University of Hawaii. His research includes the host defense mechanisms against Staphylococcus aureus infections, and he serves as a Principal Investigator in the ECRG4 Host Defense project, funded by the NIH from July 1, 2020, to June 30, 2025. Dr. Dorschner's work has focused on exploring the roles of antimicrobial peptides and their receptors in skin health and disease, notably in conditions such as rosacea. He is dedicated to advancing insights into skin biology and therapeutic interventions for dermatological conditions.
