Biography

Dr. Robert P. Dunbar, Jr. is an associate professor and a board-certified fellowship-trained orthopaedic trauma surgeon with a strong foundation in community service. He earned his undergraduate degree from the College of the Holy Cross, followed by a medical degree from Georgetown University School of Medicine. After completing his orthopaedic surgery residency at Cornell’s Hospital for Special Surgery, he pursued an orthopaedic trauma fellowship at Harborview Medical Center, where he currently serves as a faculty member. In addition to his clinical duties, Dr. Dunbar plays a significant role in trauma-related educational programs at various levels. He has a deep commitment to serving the community, shaped by his upbringing in a family dedicated to service and his experiences as a Peace Corps volunteer in West Africa. He also completed seven years of active duty in the Navy, which further enhanced his dedication to patient care. His clinical research focuses on fractures of the lower limb, particularly around the knee and ankle joints. Outside of work, Dr. Dunbar enjoys coaching high school lacrosse and exploring the Pacific Northwest.
