Biography

Robert K. Feeney received B.E.E., M.S., and Ph.D. degrees from the Georgia Institute of Technology in 1961, 1964, and 1970, respectively. He served in the U.S. Army and worked at General Dynamics before joining the faculty in 1970. His research includes extensive measurements of electron-ion excitation and ionization cross-sections using the crossed-beam method. He has studied ion emission from aluminosilicate materials related to high-field electron emission in solids and has developed methods for on-chip trimming of integrated circuits using non-destructive measurement techniques, including transient photoconductivity. Professor Feeney has a long-standing interest in RF design, especially in the application of CAD techniques for non-linear circuits and oscillators. He established a modern RF course at Georgia Tech in 1978, and he teaches both undergraduate and graduate courses related to RF. Additionally, he has contributed to the curriculum through continuing education short courses taught at various industrial sites. Beyond his teaching responsibilities, Dr. Feeney serves as an RF consultant to various nationally recognized companies.
