Biography

Robert Finbow is a Professor in the Department of Political Science at Dalhousie University and holds the Eric Dennis Memorial Chair. His research focuses on socially responsible elements of trade agreements, particularly in regards to labor and social issues. He particularly studies the Canada-European Economic Trade Agreement (CETA), exploring its implications on social policy and federalism. Finbow has received funding from the European Commission for the CETA Implementation Implications Project, which analyzes legislative changes necessary for the effective realization of CETA. He has organized numerous regional consultations on socially responsible trade and has contributed to discussions on labor provisions in trade agreements such as the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA). His publications cover a range of topics including the impacts of trade on labor, environmental aspects of trade agreements, and comparative political cultures in North America. In addition to his extensive research, Finbow teaches courses in comparative politics, American politics, and Latin American studies.
