Robert Gagnon completed his medical degree and residency in obstetrics and gynecology at Université de Montréal, followed by postgraduate training in Maternal-Fetal Medicine at the University of Western Ontario. He joined the faculty at the University of Western Ontario, where he became a professor in the Departments of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Physiology and Pharmacology, and Pediatrics. In 2008, Gagnon was recruited to McGill University's Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology to direct the divisions of Obstetrics and Maternal-Fetal Medicine at the McGill University Health Center. He is an active member of the Society of Obstetricians and Gynecologists of Canada and has contributed to various committees, including Diagnostic Imaging and Maternal-Fetal Medicine. He has authored over 100 publications, including book chapters and review articles, focusing on diagnostic indicators of fetal health, fetal behavior, fetal growth and development, fetal cardiovascular physiology, and placental function. Gagnon has delivered over 200 scientific invited presentations in his area of expertise and is recognized as a prominent advocate for Maternal-Fetal Medicine. In March 2011, he was granted the Founder designation in Maternal-Fetal Medicine by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada.
