Biography

Dr. Robert Gros is an Associate Professor in the Department of Physiology and Pharmacology at Western University. He obtained his Ph.D. and Master's degrees from the University of Western Ontario. His research focuses on the cellular and molecular mechanisms that regulate vascular function, particularly the role of G-protein-coupled receptor signaling pathways in vascular smooth muscle and endothelial cell function under both physiological and pathological conditions, such as hypertension and diabetes. Gros's laboratory examines the regulation of G-protein-coupled receptor kinases in cardiovascular disease, aiming to identify novel regulators of vascular signaling pathways. His published work includes studies on the effects of aldosterone on clonal human smooth muscle cells and the impact of hypertension on beta-adrenergic responsiveness. He uses various experimental techniques, including integrative approaches involving gene transfer methods, to advance understanding in this critical area of cardiovascular health.
