Biography

Robert Hall is an Honorary Lecturer at UNSW Canberra in the School of Humanities and Social Sciences. With a career that began in the Australian Regular Army in 1991, he later joined the staff at UNSW Canberra at the Australian Defence Force Academy. Between 2006 and 2010, he served as the Executive Director of the Australian Defence Studies Centre and was a Queen Elizabeth II Fellow during that period. Hall completed an ARC funded research project that examined the combat effectiveness of Australian forces during the Vietnam War. He has also contributed as an adjunct lecturer focusing on the analysis of combat operations. In 2010, he began working on the 'Australia's Vietnam War' website, which aims to assist in locating burial sites of Vietnamese soldiers who were killed in action by Australian and New Zealand forces during the Vietnam War. This project also endeavors to return documents and artefacts of personal nature recovered from the battlefield by Australian and New Zealand soldiers.
