Biography

Professor Rob Horne is a leading authority in Behavioural Medicine at University College London (UCL), where he is the Director of the Centre for Behavioural Medicine within the School of Pharmacy. Since joining UCL in 2006, he has established the Centre and was Head of the Department from 2008 to 2012. With a background in clinical pharmacy and NHS medicines management, Professor Horne completed his PhD in health psychology at Guys Medical School. His research programme spans over 17 years, focusing on psychological and behavioural factors that affect treatment responses. He aims to develop interventions that promote optimal engagement with essential treatments amidst effective medical innovations. His scholarly output includes 140 peer-reviewed publications and book chapters, attracting over £7 million in grants, including £4.9 million as Principal Investigator. Professor Horne is a Founding Fellow of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society of Great Britain and an Honorary Fellow of the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Medicine. He has been designated a National Institute of Health Research Senior Investigator and is UCL's academic lead for the Centre for Advancement of Sustainable Medical Innovation (CASMI), in collaboration with the University of Oxford.
