Biography

Robert J. Jackson Jr. is the Nathalie P. Urry Professor of Law at New York University School of Law. He serves as the Director of the Jacobson Leadership Program in Law and Business and as a Co-Director of the Institute for Corporate Governance and Finance, as well as the Director of the Program on Corporate Law and Policy. He has an extensive background in corporate law and finance, with premier publications featured in top academic journals including the Journal of Finance and the Journal of Law and Economics. Jackson previously served as a Commissioner of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, where he advocated for investor protection and transparency in capital markets. His research has influenced bipartisan legislation aimed at closing gaps in securities law to better reflect modern markets. Prior to his work at the SEC, he taught at Columbia Law School where he received the Reese Prize for Excellence in Teaching. His practical experience includes serving as a senior policy advisor during the financial crisis at the U.S. Treasury Department and practicing law at Wachtell, Lipton, Rosen & Katz. Jackson holds multiple degrees from esteemed institutions including the University of Pennsylvania and Harvard University. He is a lifelong fan of the New York Yankees and currently resides in New York with his wife, Bryana.
