Biography

Professor Robert T. König conducts research in quantum mechanics with a special focus on mathematical methods and applications in quantum information processing. He studied physics at ETH Zurich and received his PhD in Applied Mathematics and Theoretical Physics from the University of Cambridge, UK, in 2007. Following this, he worked as a postdoctoral researcher at both the California Institute of Technology and the IBM TJ Watson Research Center. In 2012, he began his role as an assistant professor at the Institute for Quantum Computing at the University of Waterloo, later becoming an assistant professor at the Technical University of Munich (TUM) in 2015. Professor König has been involved in numerous key publications in the field, including studies on quantum advantages in shallow circuits and communication limits in quantum entropy power inequalities.
