Biography

Robert Kosowski is a Professor of Finance at Imperial Business School, Imperial College London, where he is also a research fellow at the Centre for Economic Policy Research (CEPR). He has served as the Head of the Department of Finance at Imperial Business School from 2021 to 2025 and co-founded the Centre of Excellence in Quantitative Finance at Imperial in 2024. His research interests encompass asset management, risk management, machine learning, hedge funds, mutual funds, performance measurement, business cycles, derivative trading strategies, and economic forecasting. Robert's extensive research career spans over 20 years, with notable features in the Financial Wall Street Journal and several prestigious awards, including the European Finance Association's 2007 Paper Award and multiple INQUIRE paper awards. He has published extensively in leading finance journals such as the Journal of Finance, the Journal of Financial Economics, and Financial Studies. His co-authored book, 'Principles of Financial Engineering', was published in 2014. Prior to joining Imperial, Robert was an Assistant Professor of Finance at INSEAD, teaching MBA and Executive Education PhD programs. He has also been a visiting scholar at the UCSD Economics Department and the International Monetary Fund. Known for his teaching excellence, Robert has won multiple awards at Imperial and has directed the executive education programme in Risk Management.
