Biography

Robert Kypta's PhD focused on Src family tyrosine kinases in the context of oncogenic transformation by polyoma virus middle T antigen and PDGF signaling. His postdoctoral research at UCSF involved studying signaling in cell adhesion complexes and their impact on neuronal differentiation. A major accomplishment was the identification of the link between cadherin-associated catenins and receptor-like tyrosine phosphatases. As a Wellcome Trust Career Development Fellow at the MRC LMCB, UCL, he studied the regulation of catenin localization in cell differentiation and developed an interest in Wnt/beta-catenin signaling in cancer. He has served as a Lecturer and now as a Senior Lecturer in Cancer Biology at Imperial College London, directing the MBBS Cancer Frontiers intercalated BSc program. His current research focuses on developing nanoparticles for the treatment of prostate cancer as a Principal Investigator at the Cancer Heterogeneity Lab at CIC bioGUNE. His team's work aims to identify unique, promising targets and tools to lead to the development of novel therapies targeting Wnt signaling in cancer diseases.
