Biography

Professor Logie obtained his BSc in Psychology from the University of Aberdeen in 1976 and a PhD in Psychology from University College London in 1981. He worked as a post-doctoral researcher at the Medical Research Council's Applied Psychology Unit in Cambridge from 1980 to 1986. Subsequently, he returned to the University of Aberdeen's Psychology Department, where he served in various roles including lecturer, senior lecturer, and from 1997 to 2002 as Head of the Department. From 1995 to 2006, he held an adjunct professorship in cognitive psychology at the University of Bergen in Norway. In 2004, he took up a professorship in Human Cognitive Neuroscience at the University of Edinburgh, where he continues to engage in active research following his retirement in December 2023. His research interests primarily focus on human memory, notably working memory and its changes throughout the adult lifespan. He has been involved in numerous academic responsibilities and has published extensively, with over 300 publications to his name. He chaired an European Research Council panel and served on various committees in psychology and cognitive science.
