Biography

Rob currently serves as an Adjunct Professor at Western University and Laurentian University, providing domain expertise in wildland firefighting and fire management while engaging students and faculty in research on wildland fire. He retired from the Ontario Government in 2017 as the General Manager of the Response Operations for the wildland fire program, overseeing firefighting operations and staff across Ontario. His career began in 1980 as a firefighter with the Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources, where he progressed through various roles over the seasons. Rob has over two decades of experience as a research scientist and science manager at both federal and provincial levels before spending five years as General Manager. He has lectured across Canada, the United States, Australia, and Europe on related topics. Rob is a co-author of the award-winning book 'Fire in the Forest' published by Cambridge University Press in 2010 and has authored more than 50 scientific papers.
