Robert McLaughlin is an adjunct faculty member in the Department of Integrative Biology at the University of Guelph. His research spans various aspects of fish behaviour, ecology, and conservation, particularly in the context of sea lamprey management in the Great Lakes. McLaughlin has contributed significantly to the understanding of behavioural syndromes in brook charr and has explored the ecological mechanisms that promote behavioural diversification in the absence of morphological changes. His work also addresses issues related to phenotypic plasticity and locomotion in aquatic species. Through his studies, McLaughlin has examined the impacts of agricultural systems on freshwater fish habitats and the effectiveness of sampling methods for assessing imperiled species. He has published several papers in respected journals such as the Canadian Journal of Fisheries and Aquatic Sciences and the Journal of Animal Ecology.
