Professor Dr. Robert Nonomura

Biography

Robert Nonomura is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Sociology at Western University. He specializes in critical sociology, focusing on gender-based violence, morality, and public sociology. His current research investigates trauma-informed ethics and advances interdisciplinary knowledge mobilization related to the social-structural dimensions of gender-based violence. Nonomura collaborates with the Centre for Research & Education on Violence Against Women & Children to develop educational resources and contributes to various crucial projects funded by the Public Health Agency of Canada, addressing the needs of survivors of family violence. His work emphasizes understanding the complexities surrounding social inequalities and intersectionality, ensuring an informed approach to issues of morality and social ethics within the field of sociology. Nonomura actively engages in research that matters to survivors of violence and advocates for better-informed practices within institutional frameworks, enriching the dialogue on these pressing societal issues.
