Dr. Robert Phillips

Biography

Robert holds an MSc in Biotechnology from University College London and a Ph.D. in Biochemistry from the University of Southampton, completed through an industrial CASE studentship with Actinova. He has carried out a postdoctoral appointment at the National Institute for Medical Research in London, where he studied fast protein-protein kinetics using biophysical methods. Robert manages an EPSRC-funded Research Enterprise program and integrates university-wide workshops and business mentoring. He is actively involved in biotech start-ups, including Alergenetica, which focuses on allergy vaccine R&D. His academic work spans biotech start-ups, entrepreneurial intentions among scientific researchers, and he has published on entrepreneurship and technology transfer in several leading journals. Robert has presented his research internationally across various countries. He has been awarded Fellow status by Enterprise Educators UK and is a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. He continues to contribute to discussions around entrepreneurship and has penned numerous opinion pieces for media outlets including The Guardian and Forbes.
