Dr. Robert Platt

Biography

Robert Platt is a Professor in the departments of Pediatrics and Epidemiology, Biostatistics, Occupational Health at McGill University, where he also serves as a Senior Investigator at the Research Institute of the McGill University Health Centre and the Lady Davis Institute of the Jewish General Hospital. He is the holder of the Albert Boehringer endowed chair in Pharmacoepidemiology. Additionally, he is the Executive Co-Lead of the Methods team for the Canadian Network for Observational Drug Effect Studies (CNODES). His research primarily focuses on improving study methodologies regarding medications, utilizing administrative data with a particular emphasis on causal inference, especially concerning medications during pregnancy. Professor Platt also acts as editor-in-chief for key journals such as Statistics in Medicine and sits on the editorial boards of the American Journal of Epidemiology and Pharmacoepidemiology and Drug Safety, contributing significantly to the field with over 325 publications, including articles and book chapters pertaining to biostatistics and epidemiology.
