Biography

Robert Preucel is the James Manning Professor of Anthropology and Director of the Haffenreffer Museum of Anthropology at Brown University. He joined the Brown faculty in 2013, having held previous academic positions at the University of Pennsylvania and Harvard University. His research focuses on anthropological archaeology, with special emphasis on archaeological theory and practice, semiotics, Indigenous collaborative archaeologies, repatriation under NAGPRA, and the archaeology of the Pueblo Revolt. He has authored and co-edited several influential publications in the field, including works on social archaeological theories and Indigenous perspectives.
