Biography

Robert Scheer has built a strong reputation in social and political writing over 30 years as a journalist. His columns have appeared in newspapers across the country, and his in-depth interviews have made headlines. Scheer conducted a famous interview for Playboy magazine with Jimmy Carter where the former president confessed his lust in his heart, along with interviews of prominent political and cultural figures including Richard Nixon, Ronald Reagan, and Bill Clinton. From 1964 to 1969, he served as a Vietnam correspondent and later as managing editor and editor-in-chief of Ramparts magazine. Between 1976 and 1993, he was a national correspondent for the Los Angeles Times, writing on diverse topics such as the Soviet Union, arms control, and national politics. In 1993, Scheer launched a nationally syndicated column based in Los Angeles and served as a contributing editor for Truthdig, an online magazine he co-founded. He also hosts a weekly radio program called 'Left, Right, & Center' on KCRW, a National Public Radio affiliate in Santa Monica. Scheer has authored 10 books, exploring a range of topics from politics to media ethics.
