His research focuses on non-linear geophysics and statistical seismology. He has published numerous works on earthquake physics, statistics, and induced seismicity, contributing significantly to understanding temporal spatial scaling properties of earthquakes and aftershocks. His work also includes earthquake hazard assessment, forecasting, and large-scale computer simulations of seismicity. In addition to his theoretical work, he explores applications of continuum damage mechanics and fracture processes in solids, rocks, and the Earth's crust, as well as topics related to planetary volcanism and geodynamics.
