Biography

Originally from England, Rob Style obtained a Ph.D. studying the physics of ice growth at Cambridge University, UK. He has held postdoctoral positions at Oxford University (UK) and Yale University (USA) where he focused on the freezing mechanical properties of soft solids. Following his time as a postdoctoral researcher, he took on the role of Departmental Lecturer at Oxford, after which he moved to ETH Zurich as a Group Leader in the Department of Materials. His research spans a wide range of experimental and theoretical topics, emphasizing areas such as interfaces, functional tough materials, phase separation in soft biological materials, phase change during freezing, membrane physics, and the mechanics of fracture in complex materials.
