Dr. Robert Swinney

Biography

Robert Swinney is the Senior Associate Dean for Programs and a professor in the Operations Management area at Duke University's Fuqua School of Business. His research focuses on strategic issues in operations and supply chain management, as well as the operational implications of consumer behavior. He also investigates sustainability in supply chains, social responsibility within supply chains, and the operational risks associated with supply and demand. His work has been published in several prestigious academic journals, including Management Science, Operations Research, and Manufacturing & Service Operations Management. Currently, he serves as Department Editor for Manufacturing & Service Operations Management and has previously held positions as associate and senior editor for various high-impact journals in the field. Prior to his role at Fuqua, he was an associate professor at Stanford University's Graduate School of Business. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Astronomy from the California Institute of Technology and his PhD in Operations Management from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.
