Dr. Robert Teather received his PhD in Computer Science from York University in 2013 and completed a postdoctoral fellowship at McMaster University in 2015. His research focuses on human-computer interaction, with a specialization in 3D user interfaces, virtual reality, and user interfaces for computer games. Dr. Teather's PhD work concentrated on developing standardized methods for empirical comparison of input devices in 3D interaction, primarily comparing mouse input to 3D tracker-based input. He established himself as an expert in comparing drastically different input devices using fundamental interaction tasks such as target selection, and varying system configurations including display properties and system latency. His research is supported by the NSERC Postgraduate Scholarship and the Ontario Graduate Scholarship. Additionally, his research is backed by NSERC Canada Foundation Innovation. Dr. Teather's research interests include virtual reality interaction, input devices, interaction techniques, cybersickness, and haptics, as well as 3D user interfaces and game design.
