Biography

Robert Weir has been a faculty member of the Greek and Roman Studies program at the University of Windsor since 2002. He earned his Bachelor of Arts with Honours in Classics from the University of British Columbia in 1990, followed by a Master’s degree in 1993 and a PhD in 1998 from Princeton University in Classical Archaeology. His teaching focuses on Greek and Roman art and archaeology, including topics such as Greek and Roman coins, Greek history, late antiquity, and the reception of ancient texts. Weir has also conducted significant research on coins discovered during archaeological excavations, particularly in Greece, Cyprus, and Turkey, and has received a Standard Research Grant from the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada for his work from 2001 to 2004. In recent years, his interests have expanded to the modern reception of ancient texts and evidence of marginalia in printed books from the 16th to the 18th centuries. He has authored several publications, including a forthcoming book titled "Subtle-Shining Secrecies: Find Book Owned Shakespeare" and various papers in academic journals.
