Biography

Robert M. Witt is a Reference Librarian and Lecturer at Columbia Law School, where he has been employed since March 2013. Prior to joining Columbia, he worked as a reference librarian and international/comparative specialist at Florida Coastal School of Law in Jacksonville, Florida. Witt holds a Bachelor of Arts in Urban Studies and Planning from the University at Albany and a Juris Doctor from Albany Law School. He is admitted to practice law in New York and Connecticut and has experience working at DeGraff, Foy & Kunz in Albany, New York. Witt transitioned to a career in law librarianship, accepting a Law Librarian Fellow position at the University of Denver’s Westminster Law Library, where he earned his Master’s in Library and Information Science (M.L.I.S.) with a specialization in law librarianship. As part of his M.L.I.S. practicum project, he traveled to Shenzhen, China, to intern at Peking University School of Transnational Law’s Legal Research Center. Additionally, he interned at the National Indian Law Library in Colorado. At Columbia, Witt teaches introductory legal research classes as part of the Law School’s first-year Legal Practice Workshop and the LL.M. Legal Research Writing course.
