Dr. Robert Witzburg

Biography

Robert Witzburg, MD, is an Emeritus Professor at Boston University Chobanian & Avedisian School of Medicine, specializing in General Internal Medicine. He has been a part of the Boston University Medical Center community for over 40 years, graduating from the Boston University School of Medicine in 1977. Dr. Witzburg completed his residency at Boston City Hospital and served as the training program director and associate chief of medicine there for 12 years. He held the position of associate chief medical officer at Boston Medical Center and was the medical director for the BMC HealthNet Plan. He founded and served as the president and medical director of the Neighborhood Health Plan, establishing a comprehensive coverage model to provide care for families in Massachusetts. Witzburg has published numerous peer-reviewed papers and book chapters in the field of primary care and HIV patient care. He has held national leadership roles aiming to improve diversity in the physician workforce and has been involved in the development of the Medical College Admissions Test (MCAT). Dr. Witzburg is known for his expertise in healthcare delivery systems and medical education, focusing on holistic candidate evaluations for medical school admissions.
